Abstract
Dear Audience,
The Impact Factor (IF) is a popular metric used by researchers to measure the impact of journal articles. IF is calculated as the number of citations received by a journal in the period between the date of publication and the end of the year, divided by the number of articles published in that journal during that period. The higher the IF, the more influential the journal is. Nowadays, most journals publish their results online as well, making it easier for researchers to get access to the data they need.1 This has led to an increase in the number of articles with high IFs - so-called “journals with high impact”. IJPER is one such journal, with an Impact Factor® as reported in the 2021 Journal Citation Reports® (Clarivate Analytics, 2022): 0.843 and five year impact factor is 0.865. What explains this high IF? In part, it reflects IJPER’s broad scope and deep coverage of research in international publications. But it also reflects IJPER’s commitment to quality control and its focus on producing high-quality research that has real-world implications for practitioners in the field.
