Abstract
This study examines the role of digital technologies in enabling the transition to a Circular Economy (CE) within Agricultural Supply Chains (ASCs), identifying research trends, collaboration networks, and systemic barriers. A scientometric review of 277 publications from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) (2009-2024) was conducted, using text mining and the Tree of Science (ToS) algorithm to map scientific production and disruptive innovations. The results indicate that Italy, the UK, and India lead research output in this field. Technologies such as blockchain, IoT (Internet of Things), and artificial intelligence emerge as key enablers for enhancing traceability, reducing waste, and optimizing resources. However, significant barriers persist, including scalabity issues, regulatory fragmentation, and limited cross-sector collaboration. The study concludes that effective implementation of circular models in ASCs requires integrated policies, longitudinal studies, and global partnerships to foster technological adoption and adaptive governance. This work synthesizes fragmented literature, highlights divergent hypotheses, and provides actionable insights for aligning CE strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
