Abstract
I am pleased to bring you Volume 13, Issue 4 of Pharmacognosy Communications. In this issue, we present an evaluation of the antibacterial activity of Tasmannia lanceolata (Poir.) A.C. Sm. berry extracts against Staphylococcus spp. bacterial skin pathogens. Another study screened Hamamelis virginiana L. leaf extracts against some bacterial triggers of selected autoimmune inflammatory diseases. Additionally, that study also screened the extracts in combination with conventional antibiotics to examine whether the extracts could reactivate the antibiotics in antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. Similarly, another study screened extracts prepared from the fruit of the well known Indian Ayurvedic plant Terminalia bellericia (Gaertn.) Roxb. against a similar panel of bacterial autoimmune triggers and tested the combinations for potentiating activity. A further study reports the antibacterial activity of the pure phytochemical’s curcumin, lupeol and piperine.
