I am pleased to bring you Volume 16, Issue 3 of Pharmacognosy Communications. In this issue, we present a study that evaluated the aphrodisiac activity of Cordyceps chaitanya and Cordyceps militaris in male Wistar rats. That study confirmed the aphrodisiac properties of these plants and validated their ethnobotanical uses for this purpose. We also present a review of the clinical use of probiotics for preventing urinary tract infections. That study also reports the efficacy and known therapeutic mechanisms associated with these effects. A further study examines and identifies microbial enzymes from dumpsites and their effects as biocatalysts. Whilst this study is not strictly examining the pharmacognostic properties of natural medicines, we have included in is this issue because the control of environmental bacterial microbiomes may profoundly affect human disease development and progression. Therefore, we believe that it may be of interest to Pharmacognosy Communications readers. Our regular features are also continued in this issue. Two more high quality medicinal plant images are also included in this issue and a listing of upcoming conferences and meetings is also included. I encourage any conference organisers who would like to publicise their event to contact me with details so they can be included in future upcoming events sections of this journal.
