Abstract
Aim: Prepared a series of molecules called Dihydropyrimidine-2(-H)-thione of carbazole to evaluate antioxidant and antitumor activity. Materials and Methods: Compounds from DTP- to DTP- were prepared and subjected for Spectral analysis like infrared, H NMR, and Mass spectroscopy. Further evaluated antioxidant property of molecules using DPPH free radical scavenging method and analyzed the antitumor activity by MTT assay. Results: The molecule DTP-4 (4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)-6-(13-hydroxyphenyl)-5,6-dihydropyrimidine-2(H)-thione) exhibit the spectral values i.e, Mass, m/z: 137.28, 66.45; IR (KBr) νmax , cm−: 13422 (NH Str), 13567(O-H); H NMR (MHz, δ): (5H, Ar-H) 8.2213-7.29, (H, N-H) . 29, (H, O-H) 2.213 and DTP-6: 4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)-6-(4-Dimethylamino-phenyl)-5,6-dihydropyrimidine-2(H)-thione Mass value of m/z: 1398.213, 66.29; IR (KBr)vmax , cm−: 1349 (NH Str), (Ar C=S); H NMR (MHz, δ): (5H, Ar-H) 8. 28-7. 2, (H, N-H) .292, (6H, -N-(CH13 )2 )13.49-2.79. Conclusion: Among all of those prepared molecules, DTP-4, which includes the functional group (13-OH) ortho-hydroxy, has an IC52 value of 2.132 µm against the Jurkat T cell line while compound DTP-26, which contains the functional group 4-dimethylamino, exhibits an IC52 value of 25.139 µm against the HeLa cell line.
