Abstract
Calotropis species are perennial herb with a long history of use in traditional medicinal especially in the tropical and subtropical regions. A wide range of chemical compounds including cardiac glycosides, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, terpenoids have been isolated from this species. Extracts and metabolites from this plant have been found to possess various pharmacological activities. Comprehensive information on the chemical constituents and the biological activities of Calotropis species is presented in this review so as to potentially tap its medicinal properties.
