Abstract
Amalaki avaleha an ayurvedic formulation that highlights the Rasayana and blood enhancing properties of Amalaki. Amalaki Avaleha is mentioned in Sushruta samhita Uttar Tantra in reference of Pandu roga (Anemia). This study is based on the HPTLC analysis of two active Phytochemicals constituents’ Gallic acid and Ascorbic acid present in Amalaki avaleha to authenticate its phytochemical profile and substantiate its therapeutic claims. Pre-coated silica gel 60 F254 plates used for evaluation. Gallic acid was examined with a solvent system incorporated by Ethyl acetate, Acetone, Water and Formic acid (10:6:2:2 v/v/v/v) resulting in a distinctive Rf value of 0.89 and a Coefficient of Variation (CV) of 2.81%, indicating precision and reproducibility. Ascorbic acid was evaluated using a solvent system of Ethanol, Glacial acetic acid and Toluene in a ratio of (3.5:1.5:3 v/v/v), which showed an Rf value of 0.603 and a CV of 5.03%. These results confirm that the Gallic acid and ascorbic acid is present in the Amalaki Avaleha, aligning with its traditional application in blood-related conditions. The confirmed HPTLC method offers a dependable and consistent means for the phytochemical standardization of this historically recognized formulation, guaranteeing its identity, quality, and therapeutic effectiveness.
